WHOIS Lookup and Useful Ascio Resources

WHOIS is a public directory of domain registration details — who registered a domain, when, and how to reach them. This article explains how to look up WHOIS information for a domain and lists useful reference resources.

What WHOIS shows

A WHOIS record typically includes the domain's registration, creation, last-updated, and expiration dates, along with contact details and the hostname or IP address the domain resolves to.

Looking up WHOIS for a domain

The Ascio Partner Portal includes a public WHOIS lookup tool at portal.ascio.com/domains/whois. Enter a domain name to view its current public WHOIS record.

Note: The public WHOIS record only shows what the registry publishes. If a domain uses privacy protection, personal contact details may be hidden from the public record even though they're on file with Ascio.

Understanding IANA

The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) coordinates key technical resources that keep the internet running, including domain names, IP number allocation, and protocol assignments. IANA's Root Zone Database lists every TLD along with its registry and the registry's contact details — useful if you need registry-level (rather than registrant-level) information for a specific TLD.
